Simplified Mobility of Classified Data

Saab has opted to use the High Grade Silicon Data Vault® (SDV) to simplify the storage and transportation of classified data. The High Grade SDV, which was designed and developed in Perth by Secure Systems Limited, allows Secret data to be treated as if it were Restricted and Confidential data to be treated as Unclassified.

The High Grade SDV® is a secure hard disk drive for laptop computers. The product is manufactured in Australia and has been evaluated and certified as a high-grade product by the Defence Signals Directorate.

Saab uses the High Grade SDV® to transport classified material between development sites, contract partners and defence locations.

Saab Systems Engineer, Mr John Hind said “Being able to transport classified data under these simplified conditions has made the task much less onerous and improved productivity enormously because classified data is now readily available when we move from site to site. This literally saves weeks over a year when it comes to transporting secret data to and from ships where our engineers are regularly involved in testing and upgrading systems.”
